Acre Calculator
Calculate the acreage of any rectangular plot from its length and width in feet.
How to Calculate Acreage
For a rectangular plot:
Acres = (Length ft x Width ft) / 43,560
Common Plot Sizes
| Plot | Length (ft) | Width (ft) | Sq Ft | Acres |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard suburban lot (0.25 acre) | 104 | 104.7 | 10,889 | 0.250 |
| Half acre | 147.6 | 147.6 | 21,786 | 0.500 |
| One acre (square) | 208.7 | 208.7 | 43,556 | 1.000 |
| Football field (no end zones) | 300 | 160 | 48,000 | 1.102 |
| Tennis court | 78 | 36 | 2,808 | 0.064 |
| Basketball court | 94 | 50 | 4,700 | 0.108 |
| Soccer pitch (average) | 345 | 223 | 76,935 | 1.766 |
| Olympic swimming pool | 164 | 82 | 13,448 | 0.309 |
Calculating Irregular Plots
Triangular plots: Acres = (Base ft x Height ft / 2) / 43,560. Measure the base and the perpendicular height from the base to the opposite corner.
Circular plots: Acres = (3.14159 x Radius ft x Radius ft) / 43,560. Measure from the centre to the edge to get the radius.
Irregular shapes: Break the plot into rectangles and triangles, calculate each section separately, then add them together. Or use Google Maps: right-click, select "Measure distance," and trace the boundary.
